Omar ibn Al-Khattab Charitable Society Participates in International Day of Older Persons Celebration
Omar ibn Al-Khattab Charitable Society – Zarqa participated in an event held by the Zarqa Social Development Directorate to mark the International Day of Older Persons. The event took place at the Princess Muna Al-Hussein Center for Elderly Women and was attended by representatives of local community organizations. Other participating organizations included Namaa Association for Social Development and the Islamic Culture Charitable Association for the Care of Orphan Girls – Zarqa. Moataz Mbaydeen, Director of Social Development in Zarqa, emphasized the importance of caring for and honoring older persons and recognizing their contributions to their families and communities. He also praised the role of community organizations in supporting them and promoting solidarity and compassion. Father Farah, Chairman of the Orthodox Association, spoke about the importance of showing older persons gratitude, love, and care, noting that this reflects the unity and cohesion of society. Mohammad Suleiman Samara, Chairman of Omar ibn Al-Khattab Charitable Society – Zarqa, praised the efforts of the Social Development Directorate and the staff of the Princess Muna Al-Hussein Center for Elderly Women. He highlighted the importance of cooperation between public institutions and charitable organizations, and of fostering respect, appreciation, and care for older persons. Ehab Awwad, Director of Namaa Association for Social Development, underscored the value of joint efforts by institutions and associations in carrying out community initiatives. Omar ibn Al-Khattab Charitable Society Takes Part in Family Violence Awareness Meeting in Zarqa
Omar ibn Al-Khattab Charitable Society in Zarqa participated in an awareness meeting on family violence organized by Zarqa Governorate. The meeting was held under the patronage of Acting Zarqa Governor Muhiyeddin Al-Adwan, represented by Samer Suwaid, Assistant Governor for Development Affairs. The meeting was organized in cooperation with the Family Protection and Juvenile Department, the Zarqa Directorate of Culture, and the Nahno platform, with representatives from government institutions and local community organizations in attendance. It aimed to raise awareness of family violence, its forms, causes, and effects; explain the role of the Family Protection and Juvenile Department in preventing and responding to cases; and highlight ways to reduce the risk of violence. During the meeting, Society Chairman Mohammad Suleiman Samara emphasized the importance of raising community awareness of issues affecting families. He highlighted the role of civil society organizations in promoting awareness and prevention, and in working with government institutions to protect families and support their safety and stability. Lieutenant Colonel Hossam Abu Anzeh, Head of the Family Protection and Juvenile Section in Zarqa, discussed the meaning of family violence, its main causes and effects, and the Department’s responsibilities and procedures for handling related cases. He also stressed the importance of coordination between government bodies and civil society organizations to prevent violence, protect family members, and strengthen public awareness. Omar ibn Al-Khattab Charitable Society Commemorates the Prophet Muhammad’s Birthday
Omar ibn Al-Khattab Charitable Society in Zarqa held a celebration on Monday to commemorate the birthday of Prophet Muhammad ﷺ. The gathering took place in a spiritual atmosphere, honoring the Prophet’s life and the values of compassion, solidarity, and benevolence embodied in his message. The celebration was held under the patronage of Acting Zarqa Governor Muhiyeddin Al-Adwan. Attendees included Deputy Governor Khaled Al-Qudah, a number of officials and dignitaries, representatives of government, religious, and community institutions, as well as supporters, guests, and children from the Society. The event opened with the Jordanian national anthem, followed by a recitation from the Holy Quran by Sheikh Hatem Al-Jubai. Society Chairman Mohammad Suleiman Samara then welcomed the patron, his representative, and attendees. He highlighted the importance of drawing on the Prophet’s example of compassion, solidarity, and care for orphans, and putting these values into action in the community. Director of Zarqa Awqaf, Dr. Ahmad Al-Harahsheh, spoke about the spiritual and humanitarian values associated with the occasion and the importance of following the Prophet’s example of compassion and mutual support. Dr. Anas Al-Khalayleh also shared lessons from the Prophet’s life and their role in shaping individuals and strengthening kindness and solidarity in society. The program included devotional performances in praise of the Prophet ﷺ and a special contribution from the Society’s children, bringing warmth and joy to the celebration. The Society affirmed that commemorating the Prophet’s birthday is an opportunity to renew its commitment to compassion and social solidarity, and to supporting orphans and children without family support, guided by the teachings of Islam and the example of the Prophet ﷺ. At the conclusion of the event, the Society thanked the patron and his representative, the speakers and participants, and everyone who attended or contributed to the celebration’s success. It prayed that the occasion would return with goodness and blessings to Jordan, its Hashemite leadership and people, and the Arab and Muslim nations.

“A Hand That Teaches” Initiative Concludes at Omar ibn Al-Khattab Charitable Society
The “A Hand That Teaches” initiative, which supported children at Omar ibn Al-Khattab Charitable Society in Zarqa, has concluded. The closing was held under the patronage of Professor Alaa Al-Din Sadiq, Vice President for Academic Affairs at Zarqa University. The initiative was delivered over two months by Zarqa University’s Deanship of Student Affairs, in cooperation with the Faculty of Educational Sciences and the Faculty of Science. It aimed to build the children’s foundational reading and writing skills and strengthen their educational and learning abilities. On behalf of the Society, its Chairman, Mr. Mohammad Samara, the board members, and staff expressed their gratitude to Zarqa University and everyone involved in the initiative. As part of its efforts to strengthen engagement and cooperation with educational and technical institutions, a delegation from Omar ibn Al-Khattab Charitable Society / Orphanage visited the Jordanian-Korean Institute of Technology. The delegation was welcomed by the Institute’s Director, Ahmad Daassan, along with engineer Majed Al-Zawahreh, Maryam Abu Farah, Doaa Shatnawi, and members of the Institute’s staff. During the visit, the delegation, accompanied by children from the orphanage and their supervisors, toured several departments. The event was attended by a number of officials and guests, alongside a team of doctors, medical staff, and volunteers. It also drew a large number of residents from Zarqa and neighboring areas. The Acting Governor of Zarqa praised the Society’s leading role in serving the community and commended the efforts of its staff, volunteers, and supporting organizations. A ceremony was held to honor Mr. Jamil Al-Marayra (Abu Jihad), the former president of the Omar Ibn Al-Khattab Association, in recognition of his dedicated service and contributions throughout his career in the various positions he held. The ceremony was attended by members of the administrative board, association staff, and children from the orphanage, in an atmosphere filled with love and appreciation. His continued support for the association and its work, even after the end of his official duties, was commended, and prayers were offered for his health and well-being, and that he be rewarded abundantly.
