Omar ibn Al-Khattab Charitable Society Takes Part in Family Violence Awareness Meeting in Zarqa

Omar ibn Al-Khattab Charitable Society in Zarqa participated in an awareness meeting on family violence organized by Zarqa Governorate. The meeting was held under the patronage of Acting Zarqa Governor Muhiyeddin Al-Adwan, represented by Samer Suwaid, Assistant Governor for Development Affairs. The meeting was organized in cooperation with the Family Protection and Juvenile Department, the Zarqa Directorate of Culture, and the Nahno platform, with representatives from government institutions and local community organizations in attendance. It aimed to raise awareness of family violence, its forms, causes, and effects; explain the role of the Family Protection and Juvenile Department in preventing and responding to cases; and highlight ways to reduce the risk of violence. During the meeting, Society Chairman Mohammad Suleiman Samara emphasized the importance of raising community awareness of issues affecting families. He highlighted the role of civil society organizations in promoting awareness and prevention, and in working with government institutions to protect families and support their safety and stability. Lieutenant Colonel Hossam Abu Anzeh, Head of the Family Protection and Juvenile Section in Zarqa, discussed the meaning of family violence, its main causes and effects, and the Department’s responsibilities and procedures for handling related cases. He also stressed the importance of coordination between government bodies and civil society organizations to prevent violence, protect family members, and strengthen public awareness. The Society’s participation reflects its commitment to community and awareness initiatives and to building partnerships that serve the local community and support family and social well-being.
